AmeriCares Airlift Dinner Dance a Spectacular SuccessAmeriCares Foundation On Saturday evening, October 14, hanger 26 at the Westchester County Airport was transformed into an enchanted venue for the thirteenth annual AmeriCares Airlift Dinner Dance. The 450 guests in attendance included numerous financial supporters, in addition to representatives from AmeriCares' donor companies. The highlight of the evening took place at 9:30 when the hangar doors rolled open displaying a Boeing 737 jet loaded with several thousand pounds of medicines and medical supplies ready for take-off. The music faded and the lights were dimmed as AmeriCares' doctors, supporters, company donors and personnel boarded the aircraft bound for Guatemala. The 60-person delegation visited hospitals and clinics served by AmeriCares, and got a firsthand look at how well AmeriCares' donor dollars are utilized and how efficiently AmeriCares product donations are distributed. After the airlift took off, the remaining revelers kept the spirit of the evening alive well into the wee hours of the morning. The atmosphere was convivial and festive, but the spirit of caring was also very much in evidence. Nearly five hundred people had come to the Westchester County Airport for a reason– to support AmeriCares' relief efforts around the world. AmeriCares thanks co-Chairpersons Mary Henrikson, Patty Dunning, Karen Gartin, Lydee Conway and their 6-member committee who have spent nearly a year preparing for this night.
