AmeriCares is the Proud Recipient of a $25,000 Donation From The Greif Bros. Corporation-Riverville VA MillAmeriCares Foundation Check Presentation to take place at the 13th Annual AmeriCares Hanger Party AmeriCares, the national and international disaster relief organization, announced today it will receive a $25,000 donation from Greif Bros. Corporation in Riverville, Virginia to commemorate their 25th anniversary. The donation will be used to further AmeriCares mission of distributing medical supplies around the world. The check will be presented to Bob Macauley, Founder and Chairman of AmeriCares at its 13th Annual Airlift Dinner Dance on Saturday, October 14, at the Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York. Prior to establishing AmeriCares, Bob Macauley established Virginia Fibre Corporation (VFC) in 1973. He looked at the company not just as another semi-chemical corrugating medium company, but as a "Partnership in Progress" and a springboard for helping people in need on an international scale. The result was a close association between VFC and AmeriCares. From 1988 until 1995 VFC donated 10% of its pre-tax profits to charitable causes based on Macauley's belief that a portion of the company's profits should be given for the betterment of mankind. Of that amount, 90% went to AmeriCares and the other 10% was designated for charities in Central Virginia where most of VFC's employees live. "In honor of our Founder Bob Macauley, we are proud to make a donation to AmeriCares in the amount of $25,000. Bob's vision and determination are the cornerstones of this organization and partnership that our employees have built into the successful operation we have today," states Michael A. Giles, Vice President of Manufacturing at Greif Bros. "We all owe a debt of gratitude to Bob and to many others who provided the foundation of this organization that supports each of us, our families and our community." Greif Bros. Riverville Mill (formerly Virginia Fibre), located in central Virginia, manufacturers semi-chemical corrugating medium and recycled linerboard, containerboard products used to make corrugated boxes. The mill originally designed to produce 500 tons per day started operation in 1975 and has since expanded to its present capacity of 1200 tons per day employing 315 people. Its partnership culture extends from its employees to customers, suppliers and the community.
