"This grant will enable us to continue our mission of keeping our neighbors warmer, safer and drier." AmeriCares HomeFront is a one-day community-based home repair program that helps homeowners and community centers that are physically or financially unable to maintain their homes or facilities. Repairs are made by teams of sponsored volunteers at no cost whatsoever to the recipients. HomeFront currently serves Hartford, New Haven and Fairfield counties in Connecticut as well as Westchester County, New York. "We are especially pleased to continue our support of AmeriCares HomeFront with a $20,000 grant to establish the Metropolitan Life Foundation HomeFront Fund, " said Rob Henrikson, president of MetLife's institutional business division and member of Metropolitan Life Foundation's Board of Directors. "The new Fund will sponsor community-based volunteer teams who can contribute their time and labor to repair a neighbor's home or a local community center, but are unable to pay the sponsorship fee. This is a wonderful example of the continuation of MetLife's tradition of encouraging volunteerism and participating in community renewal."
