Lemonade Stands Across America to Generate Funds for Disaster Victims

AmeriCares, the international and national disaster relief organization, will be teaming up with budding entrepreneurs this Memorial Day Weekend to help those less fortunate.

Connecticut resident Robin Tregenza and son Jack (age 4) are organizing a nation-wide initiative to raise money for those in need around the world. Motivated by last year's horrific pictures of Kosovar refugee children, Jack and three close friends set up a lemonade stand at their Rowayton, Connecticut Memorial Day Parade which raised $38.00. They are now encouraging their friends across America to also set up lemonade stands at their local parade or in their neighborhood on Memorial Day. AmeriCares will be the sole recipient of the generated funds.

"It is always touching to see children involved in volunteer humanitarian efforts within our community," says Robert Macauley, Chairman of AmeriCares. "Their compassion sets an example for us all."

"Last year's lemonade project invoked tremendous amounts of generosity and enthusiasm," said Robin Tregenza. "The children realized that alone, it can be hard to make an impact, but when we all work together we really can make a difference."
