AmeriCares, the international and national disaster relief organization, proudly announced today that Northwest Airlines will be the Honoree of their 18th annual benefit gala on May 16th at the historical Ellis Island Immigration Museum.

President and Mrs. George H. W. Bush and AmeriCares Founders Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Macauley will be the evening's hosts, leading the tribute to Northwest Airlines for their consistent support of AmeriCares.

Over the past eight years, Northwest Airlines has continuously supported AmeriCares' disaster relief efforts around the world. This partnership has enabled AmeriCares to deliver over $24,000,000 worth of medicines and relief supplies to those suffering adversity. Based on statistics compiled by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Northwest was the most-on-time U.S. airline among the seven largest network carriers for the period 1990-1999.
