The generous donation, which has a retail value of $100,000, was delivered to AmeriCares' warehouse in Milford on Friday, February 4. Safety Cradle containers, which are used for the transport and disposal of blood borne materials, are especially important for natural disaster medical response. "In the wake of a disaster," explains Stephen Skakel, AmeriCares' Vice President of Operations, "Response units often set up makeshift medical clinics on scene. Safe disposal and transport of needles and other medical supplies are critical in preventing the spread of disease". SafeTec owner Bill Spring explains why the company chose to donate their overstock of medical supply to AmeriCares. "Our donation was prompted by the fact that AmeriCares is one of the most effective organizations of its kind in providing world wide emergency aid". SafeTec, LLC is a supplier and distributor of fire, police, emergency medical and industrial safety equipment. Located in Danbury, CT, the company supplies emergency medical response units across the tri-state area. SafeTec also acts as a dealer for emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks.
