Ambassador to the United States from Argentina, Eduardo P. Amadeo, presented the "Orden del Libertador San Martin" to Brother's Brother Foundation President Luke L. Hingson on April 4, 2003 at the Duquesne Club at 6 P.M. The Brother's Brother Foundation has sent over $21 million in pharmaceuticals to those in need in Argentina.

The "Orden del Libertador San Martin" was created on December 17, 1957.

The purpose of the "Orden del Libertador San Martin" is to express the Nation's gratitude to all those who through their efforts have contributed to progress, well-being, culture and international understanding and solidarity. These purposes coincide with the ideals of Argentina's founding fathers and authors of its greatness.

It is with this ideal in mind that the Government wishes that the "Orden del Libertador San Martin" should not be a mere distinction of courtesy, but the highest national reward for foreign civilian or military officials who have distinguished themselves through services or personal actions earning the gratitude and recognition of the Nation.

With the help of B'nai B'rith International and other organizations in Argentina The Brother's Brother Foundation has sent 8 air shipments and distributed 159,792 bottles or 22,709,962 pills to those in need throughout the country of Argentina since March 2002. These medicines included hypertension, psychiatric, kidney and heart medications with a retail value of $22 million

The Brother's Brother Foundation is a 46-year old Pittsburgh based international charity, has provided more than 69,000 tons of medical supplies, textbooks, food, seeds, and other humanitarian supplies to people around the world in over 110 countries using a combination of gifts from the general public, corporations and the US government. In 2002 alone BBF provided over $169,000,000 of relief help to those in need.
