Special Investigator Annemarie Lucas to address link between domestic violence and animal cruelty and to present keynote address.

Annemarie Lucas, a special investigator with The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) Humane Law Enforcement department and star of Animal Planet's award-winning reality series Animal Precinct will be speaking at the 11th annual Animal Law Conference "Building Animal Friendly Communities Through Legislation, Community Action, and Legal Advocacy" at the Lewis & Clark Law School on October 25. Special Investigator Lucas will be participating in a panel discussion on the link between domestic violence and animal cruelty followed by a presentation of the conference keynote address where she will share her experiences investigating cases of animal cruelty in New York.

"I was honored to accept the invitation from Lewis & Clark to speak at this year's conference," says Special Investigator Lucas. "As more organizations, state agencies and institutions of higher learning request an ASPCA presence as part of their training, we're sending a strong message that animal cruelty is a serious offense that can and will be prosecuted."

Each week, Lucas' work is seen by millions on Animal Precinct, Animal Planet's award-winning series airing on Mondays at 10:00 PM (ET). Back for a third season, Animal Precinct chronicles the work of the only law enforcement group in New York solely dedicated to investigating crimes against the city's animal population. Currently, there are 16 humane law enforcement agents and investigators covering New York City's five boroughs. Their cases include the infiltration and destruction of dog fighting rings, the closing down of cockfighting facilities and the arrests of perpetrators who neglect and abuse their animals.
