ASPCA Special Investigator and Star of Animal Planet's Animal Precinct to Train at Kaca ConferenceAmerican Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Training on advanced animal cruelty investigations, Kansas animal laws and animal handling. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and the Kansas Animal Control Association (KACA) will be teaming up to offer unique and much-needed training to area animal control officers and humane societies' staff on advanced animal cruelty investigations, Kansas animal laws and animal handling. The half-day training session will occur as part of the 2003 Annual Training Conference hosted by the KACA. "I was honored to accept the invitation from KACA to speak at this year's conference," says Mark MacDonald, ASPCA Special Investigator for Humane Law Enforcement. "As more state agencies request an ASPCA presence as part of their law enforcement training it sends a message that animal cruelty investigations are becoming more of a top priority." Each week, MacDonald's work is seen by millions on Animal Precinct, Animal Planet's award-winning series airing on Mondays at 10:00 PM (ET). Back for a third season, Animal Precinct chronicles the work of the only law enforcement group in New York solely dedicated to investigating crimes against the city's animal population. Currently, there are 16 humane law enforcement agents and investigators covering New York City's five boroughs. Their cases include the infiltration and destruction of dog fighting rings, the closing down of cockfighting facilities and the arrests of perpetrators who neglect and abuse their animals. Special Investigator MacDonald has been employed by the ASPCA for 30 years. He currently supervises the daily operations and investigations in the department. His career has included several highly successful undercover investigations of cock and dog fighting rings, pet shop inspections, and animal cruelty arrests and convictions. Location:
Doubletree Hotel, 10100 College Boulevard, Overland Park
