On Saturday, December 1st, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) assisted The Finger Lakes Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in the removal of nearly 300 animals from the Gilfus Farm in Cayuga County. The owners of the farm failed to correct animal neglect problems that were reported more than a year ago.

According to ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement Special Investigator Annmarie Lucas, "The animals weren't being provided with the proper sustenance such as food, water, shelter and medical treatment."

More than 100 volunteers, animal cruelty prevention officers and veterinarians came from all over the country to assist in the removal of horses, llamas, pigs, chickens, geese, goats, turkeys, cats and dogs. All the animals rescued were taken safely to the Humane Society at Lollypop Farms and undisclosed private farms in Monroe county.
