World Concern & Partners Providing Relief to Families in New YorkWorld Concern 09/21/01, Seattle - World Concern is partnering with Nyack College and First Alliance Church of Manhattan, who are located just blocks from where the World Trade Center in New York once stood, to provide financial assistance and trauma counseling to families, students and rescue workers. World Concern's Relief Director, Mr. Kelly Miller, stated that financial assistance will go toward setting up and maintaining counseling centers and helping families and students with bills, transportation costs, and other needs as they arise. Mr. Paul Dordal, assistant vice president of the Office of External Affairs for Nyack College, reported that grief and trauma counselors from another partner, Northwest Medical Teams, had arrived on the scene. "By the grace of God we were given credentials to get into ground zero. Quite an experience! The team is up and running, providing counseling one on one and in groups. We may be bringing in additional teams as well. Trauma and grief counseling is one of the greatest needs here." In the wake of the worst terrorist attacks in United States' history, World Concern President Paul Kennel urged people to pray: "Please pray for the families of the victims of these attacks; for the United States government; for the President and other decision makers; and for safety and good judgment to prevail. Also, please pray for World Concern's projects and personnel overseas. At this time, all World Concern personnel are safe and projects will be operating normally, though fieldworkers will remain vigilant."
