Local Volunteers Will Notice Changes at Supply ServiceWorld Concern Effective July 1, 2001, Kit Waite and Coleen Ragsdale now serve under new job titles at World Concern Supply Service in Lynnwood, WA. Waite has filled the shoes of Ragsdale's previous role as the Volunteer Coordinator, including responsibilities such as recruitment, management and volunteer care and recognition. Ragsdale, who had additionally functioned as the Marketing and Administrative Assistant, now has stepped into the role of Supply Service Assistant Director. Her new position includes overseeing daily operations, donor relations, marketing and gift-in-kind procurement. Waite, who had worked with World Concern in the early 1980's as Receipting Supervisor, returned in February to serve as Supply Service's Clothing Coordinator. Since returning, she has established a quilting ministry in which women of the community gather weekly at World Concern Supply Service to create quilts for families and children in need around the globe. Quilts sent to Mongolia, for example, grant orphans a warm night of sleep amidst severe winters: a privilege children in the US often take for granted. Waite has a heart for helping people and views her new job as a fresh opportunity to serve: "I'm excited to work with our team of volunteers. One of my first priorities will be to recruit new volunteers to help in the office and kitchen, to oversee groups, and to do the usual work of sorting medical supplies, clothes, and seeds." Waite gained experience in coordinating volunteer efforts during her previous job as the Director of Volunteers at Seattle's Union Gospel Mission. Ragsdale came to World Concern in 1997 from the printing industry, and played a key role in expanding the number of volunteers at World Concern Supply Service. She looks forward to the challenge of expanding the work of Supply Service because, "Growth here at home means we can send more needed supplies to people hurting around the world. This equates to more people's lives touched worldwide." Of her new role at World Concern she says, "My new position gives me even more opportunity to reach out to people both internationally and in our own community. It's exciting to provide a place where people from all over the Puget Sound area can volunteer and really make a difference in the lives of others."
