Seattle, WA – Seattle based World Concern is partnering with Northwest Medical Teams (NWMT) in El Salvador and Churches Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA) in India to provide relief to the thousands of people left struggling to survive after January's two deadliest earthquakes. In El Salvador, 726 people died and thousands were left homeless fearing mud slides, aftershocks, and disease. NWTI, in partnership with Asaprosar in El Salvador, has sent a team of medical volunteers and World Concern is shipping thousands of pounds of supplies to assist in their efforts.

In India, already more than 11,000 people are reported dead and that number may reach as high as 20,000. Thousands are still missing, 32,000 injured and survivors are still being pulled from the rubble.

World Concern President Paul Kennel, an expert on Disaster Preparedness in India, stated, "CASA has responded effectively throughout India to droughts, floods, earthquakes and other crises in the past and is well respected by the Indian Government. They have the infrastructure in place to assess the needs of the people and to respond quickly. When I was based in India, I worked closely with CASA. I trust them to effectively evaluate the situation and get the resources to the people."

World Concern is accepting cash donations for both the El Salvador and India Earthquake Disasters, 100% of which will be passed on to our partners in country. These partners will continually evaluate the situations and purchase food, clothing, and medical supplies for victims. Gifts should be sent to World Concern, India or El Salvador Earthquake Response, 19303 Fremont Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98133 or call (800) 755-5022 for more information.
