Red Cross September 11 Recovery Program Joins Lower Manhattan CommunityAmerican Red Cross Continues Providing Range of Services to People Directly Affected by Attacks from Seven Hanover To better assist its clients and accommodate its staff and volunteers, the American Red Cross September 11 Recovery Program (SRP) is joining the lower Manhattan community by relocating its Manhattan staff to a downtown facility at 7 Hanover Square. "As we continue helping people recover from the events of September 11, we look forward to being a part of the lower Manhattan community that was so greatly impacted by the attacks," said Alan Goodman, Executive Director of the American Red Cross September 11 Recovery Program. "This move to the new location enables us to fully integrate all of our staff and volunteers into one space, while supporting the downtown economy and utilizing local resources and services. In addition, we are pleased to be working side-by-side the downtown organizations that have put so much effort into rebuilding the lower Manhattan area." "For more than a year, the September 11 Recovery Program staff has been meeting client needs and providing assistance from temporary offices out of three different Manhattan locations," said Carla Herman, American Red Cross September 11 Recovery Program Director of Operations. "The 7 Hanover location allows us to continue providing the highest quality of services to our clients from one user friendly space." The space provides a convenient place for clients to meet one-on-one with their Red Cross Family Support Specialists. Meeting rooms comfortably accommodate regular support group meetings for families, injured individuals, lower Manhattan residents and rescue and recovery personnel. Seven Hanover is conveniently located near public transportation for easy access for clients and SRP staff. The American Red Cross September 11 Recovery Program (SRP) provides assistance, support and guidance to those most directly affected by the attacks. Trained Family Support Specialists help individuals and families access benefits and services. Services include financial assistance with mental health and health care, subsidies to cover health insurance costs, support groups and financial assistance. SRP is developing a grant program to provide community-based organizations throughout the United States with funding to enhance long-term local services for people affected by the September 11 attacks, including people in need of mental health services. Red Cross continues to assist affected downtown residents who suffered the damage or loss of their homes. Those families and individuals with unmet needs will continue to receive Red Cross support as they transition back to self-sufficiency for the duration of the Recovery Program.
