Save-the-Redwoods League Establishes Forest Stewardship and Redwood Education Grants Program

Long committed to forest protection through education, Save-the-Redwoods League has established an educational grants program that will make $25,000 available to K-12 educators, teachers and students this year. Grants are designed to aid educators and students in their studies of forest stewardship and ecology, specifically of the redwood forest. Five major granting categories are available: Classroom Supplies, Fieldtrips, Teacher Continuing Environmental Education, Individual or Group Student Projects, and Independent Environmental Educator Grants.

"Save-the-Redwoods League is very pleased to offer this new program and we are excited to work with teachers and students learning about California's majestic redwood forest," said Brigit Kavanagh, the League's Education Director.

Grant proposals will be reviewed twice per year and must be received by July 15th and January 15th for consideration. Grant guidelines are available on the League's website at www.savetheredwoods.org or by calling the League at (888) 836-0005.

Since 1918, Save-the-Redwoods League, a non-profit organization, has worked to protect California's primeval forests from destruction by including them in parks and reserves. To date, the League has assisted in preserving over 180,000 acres of forest lands in California.
