Samaritan's Purse Offers Another Lifeline To War-Ravaged SudanSamaritan's Purse Refurbished DC-3 Cargo Plane, Leaving North Carolina, This Week, To Carry Life-Saving Supplies Into African War Zone The war-ravaged country of Sudan will soon begin receiving new hope from the skies in the form of a refurbished DC-3 cargo plane, recently acquired by international relief organization Samaritan's Purse, headed by Franklin Graham. Customized for Samaritan's Purse for humanitarian aid missions, the DC-3 is scheduled to leave from North Wilkesboro, N.C., later this week, bound for its new home in Nairobi, Kenya. From there it will make regular deliveries of food, medicine, farm supplies, and other aid to desperate villages in the Sudanese war zone that are unreachable by truck due to battle lines. In Sudan, the plane will be capable of landing on short and poorly maintained runways in remote areas of the country. Last year alone, Samaritan's Purse airlifted more than 250 tons of food and emergency supplies into Sudan, largely with chartered planes. The addition of the refurbished DC-3 will now make delivery more efficient. The people of southern Sudan are suffering from a scorched-earth policy of oppression, slavery, and denial of religious and civil liberties. The Government of Sudan funds this war on its own people with the exploitation of oil fields located in the south of Sudan and at the expense of the lives and liberty of black Africans in the region. Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief organization working in more than 100 countries around the world, continues to operate one of the largest hospitals in southern Sudan, which has been a target of multiple bombings by the Islamic regime.
