Thirteen young artists' work was chosen for the American Kidney Fund's 2004 "Kid"ney Calendars. The nationwide art contest is open to children who are on dialysis or those who are kidney transplant recipients.

The winners (as well as their family members or guardians) will enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. from October 10 to 13. The Fund's young artists will receive a special tour featuring the sights of the Nation's Capital, and visit the Smithsonian Museums. The "Kid"ney Kids, ages 9 to 17, will be honored at the Fund's Recognition Dinner on Saturday evening, October 11 at the Crystal City Marriott Hotel.

Nearly 100,000 contributors nationwide will receive the 2004 "Kid"ney Kids Calendar in appreciation of their support for programs and services benefiting kidney patients. There are about 400,000 Americans who have End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) or kidney failure, many of them children. Last year, the American Kidney Fund issued more than $40 million in grants to patients.
