The Arthur Minden Leadership Award was established by the Minden family, through the New Israel Fund of Canada, to commemorate the life of Arthur Minden (1910-1966) and to continue his passion for Israel.

Arthur Minden arrived from the Ukraine as a child and made Canada his home. After graduating from Osgoode Hall, he established a law practice that grew to become a prominent firm. He was well known for his enthusiasm, compassion and the assistance he extended to others. He became a leader in his community and in 1959, was encouraged to head a study mission to Israel. His visit led to a personal transformation. His love of life and generous spirit translated into a passionate support for the young country of Israel. His last years were spent developing this special relationship between Canada and Israel.

The Arthur Minden Leadership Award seeks to honour Arthur Minden's life and promote the values and attachment to Israel that were so important to him.

The Award is for an eight-month stipended internship in Israel at an organization working to advance social justice and democracy in Israel. The internship is designed to enable an enterprising Canadian graduate or young professional to contribute to social justice in Israel while experiencing Israel first hand.
