WASHINGTON, D.C. - Donning a clown suit and offering up quips normally associated with stand-up comedy, Patch Adams, founder of the Gesundheit! Institute and subject of the acclaimed movie bearing his name, welcomed nearly 400 students to the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine (NYLF/MED). Adams shared perspective on medicine and the philosophies of the Gesundheit Institute.

Adams discussed the importance of complete patient care and told the students, "For many years, and even today, the health care profession has been a solemn and sterile environment. But it doesn't need to be that way. Bringing fun, friendship and the joy of service into the industry is very important to me and ultimately important to those who require health care."
