Jon Scott of Time Warner Cable Will Be Honored for 25 Years of Volunteer Service On Behalf of People With Mental IllnessNational Mental Health Association The National Mental Health Association will recognize Jon Scott, division president for Time Warner Cable, with the Sandy Brandt Volunteer Award for over 25 years of outstanding leadership and volunteer work on behalf of the mental health movement. "Jon's tireless dedication to social justice and extraordinary leadership on behalf of people with mental illness sets a shining example for other business leaders to aspire to," said Michael Faenza, president and CEO of NMHA. "He is a person who is truly committed to the mission and goals of the mental health movement." Mr. Scott has served on various Mental Health Association Boards of Directors across the country, including San Diego, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. While serving on the National Mental Health Association Board of Directors from 1994 to 2000, Mr. Scott led fund-raising efforts for five "Into the Light" Award dinners, which honored noted mental health leaders such as Tipper Gore, Rosalynn Carter, Elizabeth Dole and the former Surgeon General David Satcher. Mr. Scott is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier in Binghamton, N.Y. His work with the MHA of the Southern Tier includes coordinating the Board's 75th Annual Meeting and instituting the first annual Senator Thomas Libous Humanitarian Award. The Sandy Brandt Volunteer Service Award is presented to an individual for extraordinary volunteer service and ongoing commitment to the mission of MHAs. The award will be presented on Saturday, June 7, at NMHA's annual conference, "America's Mental Health Crisis: Finding Solutions Together," in Washington, D.C. at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.
