American Jewish Committee Praises Israeli Government Solution for Mosque in NazarethAmerican Jewish Committee The American Jewish Committee is praising the Israeli Cabinet's endorsement of an Israeli government commission's recommendations for resolving the controversy over a proposed mosque in Nazareth. "Out of our deep concern for the strength of Christian-Jewish relations worldwide, AJC had urged that the Christian character of the immediate vicinity of the Church of the Annunciation be preserved," said the American Jewish Committee. "e are satisfied that the commission headed by Cabinet minister Natan Sharansky offered seven appropriate alternative sites for the mosque, and we remain hopeful that Islamic leaders in the Israeli Arab community will choose one of them."
