The American Jewish Committee today applauded the federal court decision revoking the U.S. citizenship of John Demjanjuk.

"We are satisfied with Judge Paul Matia's conclusion that the government provided sufficient evidence to demonstrate that Demjanjuk was a guard at Nazi death and forced labor camps, and that he covered up his past in order to become a U.S. citizen," the AJC said.

The AJC praised government officials, in particular the staff at OSI, for pursuing over many years the case against Demjanjuk, just as they continue to investigate other alleged Nazi war criminals.
