AJC Hosts Dinner for Indian Home MinisterAmerican Jewish Committee The American Jewish Committee hosted a dinner in Washington for Home Minister L.K. Advani of India yesterday, the final night of the minister's three-day visit to the capital. Earlier in the day, Minister Advani met at the White House with President Bush. AJC leaders praised the Home Minister for his forceful advocacy of strengthened relations between India and the United States, and between India and Israel – three democracies that embrace multiple religious and ethnic traditions and are joined in the fight against global terrorism. Among the guests at the AJC dinner was Benjamin Reuben, president of the 300-strong Jewish community of Ahmedabad, in Minister Advani's legislative district. AJC maintains close contact with the Indian government – and with the Indian Jewish community – on issues of mutual concern. Leading the discussion with Minister Advani were Ambassador Richard Schifter, Chair of AJC's International Relations Commission; Dottie Bennett, Chair of AJC's National Council; and, Jason Isaacson, Director of AJC's Office of Government and International Affairs.
