AJC 911 Fund Earmarks $260,000 for Relief EffortsAmerican Jewish Committee The American Jewish Committee today presented Governor George Pataki with a contribution of $50,000 to assist the families of the victims of the September 11 terror attacks. The contribution to the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund comes from the American Jewish Committee 911 Fund. "Members of the American Jewish Committee across the country have expressed their deep concern and their desire to help those who have suffered directly in the heinous attack on the city and state we love," said Robert Goodkind, chair of AJC's Board of Governors. "As the book of Deuteronomy enjoins us to comfort those who are afflicted, so too we aim through this contribution to help bring aid to those in need," Mr. Goodkind said. AJC also has contributed $10,000 to help rebuild St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, and $50,000 to help schoolchildren through the World Trade Center School Relief Fund.
