American Jewish Committee Discusses Terrorism with Russian Foreign MinisterAmerican Jewish Committee An American Jewish Committee leadership delegation met last night with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov in New York. The 90-minute meeting focused on the September 11 terrorist attacks in the U.S. and their aftermath, including the nature of American-Russian cooperation in responding to terrorism. The discussion also touched on the question of possible American use of staging areas and air bases in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The AJC delegation and the Russian Foreign Minister also discussed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the ongoing threat of weapons of mass destruction being produced by Iran and Iraq. Finally, the meeting dealt with the current state of Russian-American bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on the strategic, diplomatic, political, and economic dimensions.
