American Jewish Committee Mourns Loss of Thousands of Americans in Series of Terror Attacks

The American Jewish Committee today expressed shock and horror after terrorists carried out the worst attacks ever on the United States.

"Our hearts go out to the families of the numerous victims of today's brutal series of terror attacks in New York, Washington, and elsewhere," said David A. Harris, executive director of the American Jewish Committee.

"The United States has been brutally attacked today, and we must consider that our nation is at war," said Mr. Harris. "To recall the words of Franklin Roosevelt, today's assault on America is this century's day of infamy," Mr. Harris said.

"All Americans must unite behind our government and fully support any action taken to respond to the destruction of the World Trade Center's towers terror outrages," Mr. Harris said.

"We will support fully the United States government in using any and all measures at its disposal to punish those individuals, groups and any countries responsible for the destruction of the World Trade Center's twin towers and the other heinous acts."
