Jeffrey Sinensky Appointed National Affairs DirectorAmerican Jewish Committee Jeffrey Sinensky has been appointed National Affairs Director of the American Jewish Committee. "Mr. Sinensky brings a wealth of talent and experience to the position," said AJC Executive Director David A. Harris. "Under his leadership we are confident that the vitally important work of the department will go from strength to strength." Mr. Sinensky will continue to serve as AJC's Legal Director and Corporate Counsel. "As director of National Affairs, I hope to ensure that AJC remains in the forefront of the struggle to preserve religious freedom, end invidious discrimination and secure the civil rights and civil liberties of all Americans," said Mr. Sinensky, who has been Acting Director of National Affairs since last September. Mr. Sinensky, who joined the AJC staff in 1998, worked at the Anti-Defamation League for 19 years, first as its Legal Director from 1976-1987, and then as Director of its Civil Rights Division. Over the course of his career, Mr. Sinensky has supervised the preparation of more than 150 amicus curiae briefs submitted to state and federal courts. In addition, he has lobbied and briefed senior legislative and Executive Branch officials, testified before Congress, and supervised research relating to anti-Semitism and political extremism. Before he began working in the Jewish community, Mr. Sinensky served as a senior member of the Appeals Bureau and deputy chief of the Indictment Bureau for the Bronx County District Attorney's Office. A cum laude graduate of Brooklyn College, Mr. Sinensky received his law degree with honors from St. John's University school of law. He is admitted to the New York State Bar, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
