Today's donation brings the total AJC contribution to $250,000. "In light of this extraordinary calamity in Turkey, we feel our response must be commensurate with the dimensions of the crisis," said Bruce M. Ramer, president of the American Jewish Committee. "Our heart is with the people of Turkey." The American Jewish Committee is consulting with Turkish officials, international relief agencies and the Jewish community in Turkey to determine the most effective ways of distributing these funds. An initial $25,000 donation from the American Jewish Committee announced earlier this week came from the Harriet and Robert Heilbrunn Humanitarian Fund, which was established by the Heilbrunn family to support humanitarian relief through the American Jewish Committee.
