The American Jewish Committee today announced a $10,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the shooting attack at the North Valley Jewish Community Center in the Granada Hills area of Los Angeles.

"We are praying for the speedy recovery of the victims," said Bruce M. Ramer, a Los Angeles attorney who is president of the American Jewish Committee.

"This is either a hate crime or a crime of anger," said Rabbi Gary Greenebaum, western regional director of the American Jewish Committee. "In light of the recent arson attacks on three synagogues in Sacramento, and shootings of Jews and other minorities in Illinois and Indiana, we must fear the worst."

"A Jewish building, especially one filled with children enjoying summer camp, is not a random target," said Mr. Ramer.
