Bruce M. Ramer, Los Angeles Attorney, Reelected President Of The American Jewish CommitteeAmerican Jewish Committee Bruce M. Ramer, a prominent Los Angeles attorney, was today reelected National President of the American Jewish Committee. Mr. Ramer, who now begins his second year in this post, is the 24th President of AJC, the nation's oldest human relations agency. The election took place at a Board of Governors/National Council meeting, part of the human relations agency's 93rd Annual Meeting, which concludes on Friday at the Capital Hilton Hotel. Mr. Ramer, a partner in the prestigious law firm of Gang, Tyre, Ramer & Brown, Inc., was selected among the 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America by The National Law Journal in the Journal's triennial listing in 1994 and 1997. Immediately prior to his election as AJC President, Mr. Ramer served the human relations agency as Chair of its National Board of Governors and previously in many other key national and chapter leadership positions. He is a recipient of AJC's Community Service Award for his decades of dedication to the organization and to the Jewish people. He serves as Executive Director of the Entertainment Law Institute of the University of Southern California Law School, where he also serves as a Member of the Board of Councilors. Among other professional affiliations, he is a Member of the American Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and Beverly Hills Bar Association, and The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation. Mr. Ramer presently is a Member of the Special Committee on Judicial Independence of the American Bar Association. He has also served as a past President of the Los Angeles Copyright Society and the California Copyright Conference. Mr. Ramer serves as a Member of the Economic Strategy Panel of the State of California, and previously sat on the Boards of QVC, Inc. and HSN, Inc. (now USA Networks, Inc.). Among his communal activities, Mr. Ramer is Founding Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Geffen Playhouse, UCLA. He is a Member of the Board of Directors of many organizations and institutions, including the Los Angeles Urban League, the Jewish Television Network, and the Jewish Federation Council of Greater Los Angeles. He previously served as a Member of the Board of Trustees of Loyola Marymount University, Rebuild LA, the LA 2000 Partnership, and the California Community Foundation. Mr. Ramer currently sits on the Board of the Los Angeles 2012 Bid Committee for the Southern California Olympic Games. Mr. Ramer has also sat on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Children's Museum. He has served the United Way as Vice Chair At Large, and as a Member of its Corporate Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Community Issues Council, as well as Chair of its Council of Presidents and Discretionary Fund Distribution Committee. Among the awards and honors he has received, Mr. Ramer is a recipient of the Beverly Hills Bar Association Executive Director's Award, the National Conference of Christians and Jews Annual Brotherhood Award, and the Beverly Hills Bar Association Entertainment Lawyer of the Year Award. Mr. Ramer is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
