American Jewish Committee Appoints New National Legal Director

Jeffrey Sinensky has been appointed National Legal Director and Corporate Counsel of the American Jewish Committee, taking over the AJC post held for more than thirty years by Samuel Rabinove.

Most recently, Mr. Sinensky was Of Counsel at the New York City law firm of Dershowitz and Eiger, P.C.

From 1976 until 1996, Mr. Sinensky served as Director of Legal Affairs and Director of the Civil Rights Division of the Anti-Defamation League, where he was responsible for all legal matters in the area of civil rights and civil liberties. At ADL, he supervised the preparation of more than 150 amicus curiae briefs submitted to state and federal courts. In addition, he lobbied and briefed senior Legislative and Executive Branch officials, testified before Congress, and supervised research relating to anti-Semitism and political extremism.

Prior to joining ADL, he served as a senior member of the Appeals Bureau and Deputy Chief of the Indictment Bureau for the Bronx County District Attorney's Office.

Mr. Sinensky is a cum laude graduate of Brooklyn College and received his law degree with honors from St. John's University School of Law. He is admitted to the New York State Bar, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
