American Jewish Committee Elects Top OfficersAmerican Jewish Committee Robert S. Rifkind, a prominent New York City attorney, was reelected National President of the American Jewish Committee today at a Board of Governors/National Council meeting. The meeting was part of the human relations agency's 91st Annual Meeting, which continues through Friday at the Capital Hilton Hotel. Bruce M. Ramer of Los Angeles, California, was reelected Chair of the Board of Governors; and Jack Lapin of Houston, Texas was reelected Chair of the National Council. Morris W. Offit of Westchester, New York, was newly elected Chair, Board of Trustees. Michael Gould of New York City, was newly elected Associate Chair, Board of Trustees. The following AJC Administrative Officers were reelected: Mimi Alperin of New York City, Treasurer; Harris L. Kempner, Jr. of Galveston, Texas, Secretary; Lawrence Ramer of Los Angeles, California, Associate Chair, Board of Trustees; and Ronald Weiner of New York City, Associate Treasurer. Herbert Mines of New York City was newly elected At-Large Officer. Reelected At-Large Officers were E. Robert Goodkind of Rye, New York; and Jane Silverman of Princeton, New Jersey. Marcia Burnam of Los Angeles, California; Barbara Hirschhorn of Baltimore, Maryland; David Rousso of Los Angeles, California; and Richard Sideman of San Francisco, California, were newly elected Vice Presidents. Newly elected Honorary Vice Presidents were Robert Belfer of New York City; Charlotte Holstein of Syracuse, New York; and Audrey Skirball Kennis of Los Angeles, California. The following individuals have been elected to serve on AJC's Board of Governors for the first time: James Adler of Washington, DC; Judy Bluestone of Milwaukee; Michael Davis of Boston; Ray Ann Kremer of Atlanta; Simon Lazarus of Washington, DC; Ken Lewis of Portland; Susan Meier of Metro New Jersey; Paul Pearson of Buffalo; Arnold Rubenstein of Atlanta; John Simon of Princeton, New Jersey; Dorothy Tannanbaum of New York City; and Felice Traktman of Miami. Elected as Honorary Board Members for the first time were Stanford Adelstein of Rapid City, South Dakota; Fran Hess of New York; and Ruth Pelletieri of Central New Jersey.
