American Jewish Committee Deeply Gratified Over Verdict In Yankel Rosenbaum TrialAmerican Jewish Committee Norman H. Stein, President of the New York Chapter of the American Jewish Committee, today issued the following statement on the verdict in the civil trial of Lemerick Nelson and Charles Price: "The American Jewish Committee is deeply gratified that the jury in Federal Court has found both Lemerick Nelson and Charles Price guilty of violating the civil rights of Yankel Rosenbaum, the visiting Australian Hasidic scholar who was stabbed to death in Crown Heights in 1991. Finally, justice is being served in a case which, for nearly six years, has left lasting scars on the Jewish community and the entire city. We expect that the upcoming sentencing will accurately reflect the nature of this brutal hate crime."
