Anne M. Georges and Kasey Gillette have joined the National Audubon Society as Assistant Directors of Government Relations, and are both based in Washington, DC.

Both Georges and Gillette come to Audubon with a wealth of legislative experience. "We are very pleased to be able to bring Anne and Kasey to Audubon to strengthen our government relations efforts," said Perciasepe. "Anne and Kasey bring to Audubon the energy and professionalism that have won them deserved respect throughout the conservation community."

With 15 years of experience working on Capitol Hill, Anne Georges returns to Audubon after living in Thailand for three years. Prior to that, she was Audubon's deputy director of government affairs (2000-2001), working on the organization's priority appropriations issues, and successfully in securing federal funds for Audubon Centers.

Before that, Georges worked as Legislative Director for Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) from 1999 to 2000. Prior to her position with Rep. DeLauro, Georges served as Director of Government Relations for the National Association of Conservation Districts (1998-1999). Georges served as Senior Appropriations Assistant to Rep. Dave Obey (D-WI) from 1983 to 1996. Having worked on appropriations issues for two senior members of the Appropriations Committee with, Georges brings her vast knowledge of and experience with the appropriations process to Audubon. She will handle appropriations for Centers, bird conservation, agricultural conservation, and ecosystem specific work supporting Audubon's priorities, including Long Island Sound Restoration work.

"I'm excited to be back with my colleagues at Audubon," said Georges. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to use my legislative experience to make a contribution to bird conservation and environmental education."

Kasey Gillette joins the Public Policy staff at Audubon after five years on the staff of United States Senator Bob Graham (D-FL) from 2000 to 2004, where she served as the senior policy advisor for environment, energy, and agriculture issues. In this capacity, Gillette focused on environmental priorities such as the implementation of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan and preservation of Florida's offshore drilling moratoria.

Additionally, Gillette brings to Audubon her professional experience as Senator Graham's legislative staff person for the Fisheries, Wildlife, and Water Subcommittee under the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. Her expertise on clean water and wetlands issues, coupled with her knowledge of the appropriations process, further augments Audubon's ability to reach legislative goals and objectives.

"I am looking forward to working on environmental issues and bird conservation from a new perspective outside of the U.S. Senate," said Gillette. "In this critical time for our nation's environmental well being, I am glad to have the opportunity to join an organization as highly regarded as Audubon, that is working to ensure that we continue to make progress in conservation and restoration."

Gillette joined the Graham staff only months after graduating cum laude from the University of South Florida. She has also lived and traveled extensively abroad.
