AICR Offers Extensive Online Resource "For Cancer Survivors"American Institute for Cancer Research Section of AICR Website Provides Science-Based, Up-to-Date Diet-Cancer Information Specifically for Survivors Sunday, June 1st is National Cancer Survivors Day, and experts at the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) have devoted a section of their website to address the specific concerns of the survivor community. The online resource, called "For Cancer Survivors," can be accessed directly at www.aicr.org/survivor. At the site, survivors will find a host of practical advice, from general nutritional guidelines to healthy recipes and cooking tips. The site also summarizes up-to-date research and offers a clear overview of what science knows – and what it still does not know – about diet's role in preventing recurrence, secondary cancers and late effects of cancer therapy. Available at www.aicr.org/survivor
The website also allows survivors to email their specific questions on diet and exercise to a registered dietitian, who will respond with clear, science-based answers within two business days. Finally, visitors to the "For Cancer Survivors" section of the AICR website will be able to access the full content of AICR's free brochures on diet and survivorship, and will be able to order several books published by AICR that contain more detailed information about various aspects of life after cancer. AICR has funded millions of dollars of research on the diet-cancer connection, and is leading new initiatives to increase funding for investigations of diet's role in survivorship.
